Thanks to a partnership with Families Forward, the APS Welcome Center offers Kathy's Kamp International at Kenton elementary school, a summer enrichment program for K-8 immigrant and refugee students.
Students participating in the program attend each weekday through the majority of the summer. Four days each week, campers recruited through the Welcome Center spend two hours in a classroom setting where APS teachers help them develop English skills for academic and social settings. Each summer, the Welcome Center recruits up to 60 students to participate in the camp with students enrolling through Families Forward.
Through class, field trips, games, and group activities, students have the opportunity to continue learning English in a fun environment during the summer.
