Thanks to a partnership with YMCA, the APS Welcome Center offers Summer Camp for Elementary and Middle School Students at Paris elementary school, a summer enrichment program for K-7 immigrant and refugee students.
Students participating in the program attend each weekday through the majority of the summer. Four days each week, campers recruited through the Welcome Center spend two hours in a classroom setting where APS teachers help them develop English skills for academic and social settings. Each summer, the Welcome Center recruits up to 60 students to participate in the camp with students enrolling through YMCA.
Through class, field trips, games, and group activities, students have the opportunity to continue learning English in a fun environment during the summer.
